A bunch of our earth loving, environmentally friendly, Bonobos kindly donated their weekends to hack together a mobile app for WWF Earth Hour’s amazingly effective "I Will If You Will" (IWIFY) web platform. Given we only had 24 hours, we couldn’t be happier with the result but please let us know what you think!

Earth Hour have already seen amazing challenges posted through their IWIYW platform. Challenges as personal as a Dad preparing dinner for six months if Mum recycles for one year, to the Girl Scouts swapping 100,000 incandescent bulbs if the Boy Scouts raise $50,000 for WWF’s forest campaign, everyone is doing their part big or small.

Our aim was to add an extra dimension to complement the IWIYW campaign, an immersive and personal dimension, unique to the mobile app format. We used push notifications to check-in with you and see how you are progressing with your challenges, location services to serve up localised challenges to accommodate the localised IWIYW campaigns, Facebook integration so you can challenge your friends, game elements to make challenges even more engaging and interactive elements to explore the flow on impact of your challenges on the earth.

The team is a little sleepy today, having designed and coded our way into the early hours of the morning, but it was an absolute blast and a privilege to be able to contribute to such a good cause.

Shout out to Ashish Awaghad and Adam Lyle of greenbizcheck for joining forces with us over the 24 hours and putting in a mammoth effort.

…stay tuned for a follow up post from our team on the interesting time saving technologies we employed to get our app done in 24 hours.
