Timepage 5

Timepage 5 has been a long time cooking, but it’s finally here! It introduces Week View, which is the feature you’ve asked for the most. Getting it right meant thinking carefully about how to make Timepage do more without getting cluttered. We read every email and review, and talked to many of you as we developed it.

Alongside Week View, this update brings a refreshed Day View, Month View on iPhone, smarter event entry, new Customisation options, and a big ol’ list of cool little things. We can’t wait to see what you think!

A massive thank you for being a Timepage user. We’re a small team that loves making it and we appreciate each and every one of you. If you want to chat, you can always reach us directly at timepage@bonobolabs.com

Introducing Week View

At last, Timepage has a Week View. Open it from the new button in the bottom left of the screen.

  • See your week at a glance and find times you’re free
  • Choose between Hourly and Grid layouts
  • Swipe left and right to change weeks

In Hourly layout you see the grid of days and hours for the week. Toggle between showing all 24 hours and just your preferred morning-to-evening range. If an event during the week is outside the range, the view automatically adjusts so it still shows. Configure all of this in Week Preferences (press and hold on the Week View, or use the main settings menu).

Creating and moving events is a snap. Tap anywhere on a day to select an hour, drag the box to set a start and end time, then tap again to confirm. Press and drag an existing event to move it to a new time or day.

The grid layout is a simple way to see your whole week with each day summarised.

Both layouts let you see the weather forecast for the upcoming days, including hourly rain and snow.

A new Week Widget matches the Week View design, with the option to show the full week or just the next few days.

A refreshed Day View

The Day View is right at the heart of Timepage, and it has some nice improvements to the Hourly Schedule. You now switch between Hourly and Card layouts right from the Schedule heading, instead of a button at the bottom of the screen.

In Hourly mode, new controls let you change the size, and you can toggle between 24 hours and your morning-to-evening range. To create a new event, tap a blank space on the schedule, drag to set start and end time, then tap again to confirm.

All-day events can now be shown in a grid layout to save space. Weather can be expanded or contracted depending on how much info you want to see. And editing what appears in Day View has a new look that makes drag-and-reorder much easier.

Month View on iPhone

Month View now works the same way on iPhone as it does on iPad. Swipe over from the heatmap to see it (and you can still rotate your iPhone to see it that way too). Pinch to change the size of days, whether you want to zoom into a few weeks or out to several months. New Preferences let you choose how events are displayed and which screen colours are used.

Improved event entry

Adding an event has a less cluttered UI and smarter detection of what you type.

  • Type start and end times like “Lunch at 1pm to 3pm” and Timepage detects them for you to confirm
  • Sharper people and place detection, with suggestions appearing as small bubbles near your text
  • Confirming a person or place no longer removes it from the event name; it uses the person’s first name or the place title
  • A new button above the keyboard opens the Recent panel for quick access to recent events, people, and places

Natural-language input remains English-only for now.

Sticky heatmap filter

The filter button on the heatmap now stays on when you let go over a calendar. The active calendar filter is shown, and tapping it returns you to showing all calendars. You can also choose to scroll vertically through events under the heatmap instead of cycling through animations.

New Customisation

The Themes screen has been renamed Customisation, with new options to play with: different fonts for headings, new colours including Volcanic Black and Neon, and more.

New app icons

Choose between different Timepage app icon styles. There’s a new colour picker, and all 70 colour options are available for each style.

Calendars in the main menu now takes you straight to the list of connected calendars, making it easier to see and manage what’s hooked up. Search from the quick menu now pops up right over whatever screen you’re on.

A new Year View

Year View has a new design that slides up wherever you tap a year. Swipe left or right to move between years, and swipe down to dismiss.

A new Daily Briefing

Smart Alerts is now called simply Notifications in the main menu, and the Daily Briefing has new animations and a whole new, more modern design.

Plus more across the app

  • Performance improvements for faster loading and smoother scrolling throughout
  • A new button style at the bottom of the screen
  • Easier swipe-to-close for days and events on iPad
  • A new way to indicate “Today” on the timeline
  • New icons across the main menu and preferences screens, and the main menu now opens fullscreen on iPhone
  • A preference for no shading on the timeline
  • “Today” on the timeline now correctly sits below the Dynamic Island on iPhone
  • The return-to-today button now floats across the timeline, heatmap, and Month View screens
  • The heatmap has been adjusted to fit more content on screen, and the small add button has been retired to reduce visual clutter
  • New Month View preferences to show the background in theme colour or dark, and to display events as coloured cards
  • “Hawking Black” theme now shows the timeline as pure black
  • “Themes” screen renamed to Customisation
  • “Smart Alerts” renamed to Notifications
  • A new Widgets help screen in the main menu
  • A smoother animation between heatmap and Month View
  • The event countdown icon selection screen has been retired; a new event icon feature is coming soon
