Timepage Exchange Server Setup - Complete Integration Guide

Timepage Exchange Server Integration

Connect your Exchange Server calendar with Timepage for seamless enterprise calendar integration. This guide covers Exchange Server setup, Outlook 365 integration, and troubleshooting.

Prerequisites

  • Timepage app installed on your device
  • Exchange Server account or Outlook 365 account
  • Internet connection
  • Required server settings from your IT administrator

Setting Up Exchange Server Integration

Step 1: Gather Server Information

Before setting up, you’ll need from your IT administrator:

  • Server address: Your Exchange server URL
  • Domain: Your company domain (if required)
  • Username: Your full email address or username
  • Password: Your Exchange password
  • Security requirements: Any certificates or security settings needed

Step 2: Add Exchange Account to Your Device

On iPhone/iPad:

  1. Open Settings App > Apps > Calendar
  2. Tap Calendar Accounts > Add Account
  3. Select Exchange
  4. You may need to tap Open Browser to open the browser to sign in
  5. Follow the prompts to sign in and give your device permission to access your calendar
  6. Tap Save

On Mac:

  1. Open System Settings > Internet Accounts
  2. Click Add Account > Generic
  3. Sign in with your calendar credentials
  4. Enable Calendars in the account settings
  5. Click Done

Step 3: Configure Timepage Calendar Settings

Once your Exchange Calendar Account is set up on your device, Timepage will be able to see the list of calendars for that account.

On iPhone and iPad:

  1. In Timepage go to the Menu
  2. Tap Calendars > Setup Calendars
  3. Find your Exchange calendars in the list
  4. Enable the calendars you want to see in Timepage

On Mac:

  1. In Timepage, go to Settings > Calendars
  2. Click the checkbox on each calendar you wish to show

Step 4: Choose Default Calendar and Colors

Set Default Calendar:

Tap the Default Calendar to choose a different one from the list. You can only choose from visible calendars. When you create a new event in Timepage, it will save it to this calendar unless you change it.

Calendar Color Setup:

  1. Tap the colored circle next to the Calendar name to choose a new color
  2. Choose from different palettes (Mono, Vivid, Pastel, Muted, Dark)
  3. Confirm your selected color by tapping the tick button, or tap Back to retain the existing color

Tip: You can match colors that have been set somewhere else to the closest color in Timepage by turning on “Auto match colors to Timepage colors”.

Troubleshooting Exchange Integration

Authentication Issues

Problem: Cannot authenticate with Exchange server

Solutions:

  1. Verify server settings with your IT administrator
  2. Check username format (may need full email address)
  3. Ensure password is correct and not expired
  4. Check if two-factor authentication is required
  5. Verify your account is not locked

Calendar Not Syncing

Problem: Exchange calendar events don’t appear in Timepage

Solutions:

  1. Check internet connection
  2. Verify Exchange account is properly configured
  3. Ensure Timepage has calendar permissions
  4. Check if your organization has sync restrictions
  5. Try signing out and back into your Exchange account

Sync Delays

Problem: Changes take too long to appear

Solutions:

  • Check your device’s sync settings:
    • Go to Settings App > Apps > Calendar > Calendar Accounts > Fetch New Data
    • Where possible, set each account to Push as this is fastest
    • Set the Fetch schedule to choose how often data is synced
  • Some services (like iCloud and Gmail) support Push for near-instant updates, but some accounts (like certain Outlook/Exchange configurations) only allow Fetch
  • If Push is unavailable for your account, your device will check for updates at the interval you set in ‘Fetch New Data’
  • Check with IT about server-side sync policies
  • Restart Timepage

Permission Errors

Problem: “Access Denied” or permission errors

Solutions:

  1. Verify calendar permissions in device settings (see below)
  2. Check if your Exchange account has calendar access enabled
  3. Contact your IT administrator about calendar permissions
  4. Ensure you’re using the correct server settings

Allow System Permission

Timepage requires your permission to access calendars on each device that you use. When you first open Timepage we’ll ask for this permission and hopefully you said yes, however if you accidentally said no…let’s fix it!

iPhone and iPad:

  1. Go to the Settings App > Privacy & Security > Calendars
  2. Tap Timepage then select Full Access

Mac:

  1. Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Calendars
  2. Find Timepage and enable calendar access
  3. If set to Add Only Access, tap Options and select Full Access

Note: Timepage is a calendar app, so we need to see your calendar. Remember, your calendar data is stored by your Calendar Account provider (such as Exchange) so this permission is just for us to be able to show your events on-device, they aren’t sent to our servers.

Certificate Issues

Problem: Certificate or security warnings

Solutions:

  1. Install any required certificates from your IT department
  2. Check if your device meets security requirements
  3. Update your device to the latest iOS/macOS version
  4. Contact IT for device compliance requirements

Advanced Exchange Configuration

Multiple Exchange Accounts

To use multiple Exchange accounts:

  1. Add each Exchange account separately in device settings
  2. Configure calendar visibility in Timepage
  3. Set different colors for each account’s calendars
  4. Choose a default calendar for new events

Delegate Access

For calendars you have delegate access to:

  1. Ensure delegate permissions are properly set in Outlook
  2. The delegated calendar should appear in your device settings
  3. Enable the calendar in Timepage
  4. Set appropriate colors for easy identification

Exchange Server Security Considerations

Device Compliance

  • Ensure your device meets your organization’s security requirements
  • Install any required security certificates
  • Enable device encryption if required
  • Follow your organization’s device management policies

Data Protection

  • All calendar data is encrypted during transmission
  • Data is stored locally on your device
  • Follow your organization’s data handling policies
  • Report any security concerns to your IT department
